Huawei Smartwatch Leaks Ahead Of Feb Reveal

It looks like Huawei will join ranks with LG in supporting Google`s Android Wear 2.0 with a new smartwatch, called the Huawei Watch 2.

A follow up to last year`s device, it`s expected to be revealed at this year`s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Prominent tech writer Evan Blass cites inside sources and claims that the new wearable will feature a sportier metalic look with a 1.4-inch display.

He says Huawei are banking on the addition of cellular connectivity to help inspire interest in consumers.

It`ll run on Android Wear 2.0 but, beyond that, very little is known. Expect further details to trickle out when Google unveil the new version of their smartwatch OS in early-February.

It’s unknown what new features the software update will bring to Android Wear users but Google recently acquired startup Chronologic to assist with development.

LG is also expected to debut a pair of new smartwatches at the event.

Additional reveals from major tech players like Motorola or Samsung are at this stage unlikely.

The Huawei Watch 2 itself is set for a reveal at this year`s Mobile World Congress, though sources say that this  timeline might not be set in stone.
