Huawei Auction Off Porsche-Designed Smartphone For Charity

To celebrate the release of the Huawei Mate 9 this week, Huawei are auctioning one of a very limited number of Porsche-designed Mate 9 handsets.

The auction will take place at World Square on Friday February 10th at 12:30PM. The proceeds from the auction will go to the charity Tour de Cure.

Marrying Porsche Design’s signature brand aesthetic with Huawei’s mobile engineering expertise, this limited version of the Mate 9 promises both unprecedented luxury and performance.

Huawei says the “Porsche Design Mate 9 features seamless curved edges, a graphite finish and stylish black colouring combined with the latest technology. This is perfectly complemented ‘under the hood’ by a unique, intuitive user interface that exudes sophistication thanks to Porsche Design’s signature design language. With a shared commitment to functional design, innovative craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, the collaboration delivers highly discerning customers an unrivalled, premium Smartphone experience; with revolutionary speed, extensive battery life and luxurious design cues.”

ChannelNews spent some time with the regular Mate 9 last week and came away very impressed.

Given that the Porsche Design Mate 9 isn’t directly available within Australia, it’ll be one of the only chances interested-parties have to pick one up.

The Porsche Design Mate 9 ordinarily retails in Europe for £1395.

Huawei say the device being auctioned is one of only three such devices in the country.
