EXCLUSIVE: Convoy To Take Over NAD & PSB Headphones Distribution

Canadian sound Company Lenbrook, has moved to consolidate distribution of their NAD, PSB and Bluesound brands in Australia with the appointment of Convoy as their sole distributor.

Previously NAD and PSB products were distributed by Melbourne based Qualifi who are also the distributor of Denon, Marantz and Heos products.

According to Geoff Mathews the CEO of Convoy the move to consolidate the Lenbrook brands was made because of the looming battle for dominance in the emerging high res audio market where Bluesound will go head to head with Heos who recently launched a new 24bit high res audio product.

Convoy will take over distribution as of October 1st 2016.

According to Michael Henriksen the CEO of Qualifi he will shortly launch a major sale of NAD and PSB stock in an effort to clear stock ahead of Convoy taking over distribution.

Convoy were offered the NAD and PSB stock currently held by Qualifi but declined the offer.

Both the NAD and PSB brands were previously distributed by Sydney based Audio Products Group which was taken over by Qualifi three years ago.

According to Henriksen Qualifi will now concentrate on expanding their Denon and Marantz brands which now come with Heos high res streaming technology built in.

Geoff Mathews the CEO of Convoy International said that the intent of their expanded partnership is to bring all three of these brands into one focussed distribution organisation in Australia to take full advantage of the developing strategy whereby all three Lenbrook brands will be grown over the proprietary platform Lenbrook developed to run Bluesound, the BluOS wireless, multiroom, music management interface that is capable of streaming high resolution audio.

He said “Convoy’s recent review of their business to focus on high quality home audio makes them the ideal partner to develop further the Blue OS ecosystem found within NAD, PSB and Bluesound commented Lenbrook’s Managing Director, Gord Simmonds. “Our team is focussed on seeing our brands provide leadership in the premium audio and custom integration world and our BluOS platform is a proven solution that will provide distributors and their dealers that sell Bluesound, NAD & PSB an ecosystem of substantive products that truly differentiate. Convoy is perfectly positioned to be our partner in this endeavour and we’re thrilled to move forward to further develop the Australian market, one of our key focus markets”.

Matthews added “This suite of brands further puts Convoy at the forefront in bringing leading edge premium solutions into our distribution network that set our dealers apart…for example, Bluesound and NAD have also recently announced MQA audio file compression technology which is now enabled in the latest BluOS upgrade”.
