CES 2017: Sony Commits To Extra Bass With New Headphone Range

Sony’s sound division got a lot of airplay at this year’s CES in Las Vegas, with a trio of new headphones being added to the company’s Extra Bass range.

First shown off at IFA, the wireless MDR-XB950N1 and MDR-XB950B1 both use NFC to make for a more reliable Bluetooth-connection and tout 22 and 18 hours of battery life respectively.

The big difference between the two mid-range models is that the MDR-XB950N1 comes with noise cancelling while the XB950B1 doesn’t.

Both feature functionality with Sony’s Headphones Connect app that allows them to be customized to emulate different listening environments and adjust the bass level to your liking.

Sony also announced a new wired addition to the lineup in the form of the water and sweat resistant MDR-XB510AS.

Angled as sports-headphones, the MDR-XB510AS come in five colours and bundled with a customizable in-line remote.

Australian pricing and availability for all three headphones has yet to be confirmed.
