Apple Stores To Sell Sonos Network Audio Gear

Sonos who started life in Australia selling via specialist Hi Fi dealers and then mass retail stores has now cut a deal with Apple to range their network Hi Fi gear in Apple stores.

The Sonos range of 16Bit network speakers will be available at 22 Apple stores in Australia from the 5th of October. Pricing at Apple stores has not been announced.

Perhaps the key takeaway from Apple’s most recent keynote was the company’s proclamation that wired audio should be consigned to history.

The 3.5mm jack is gone from the iPhone 7 with Apple stating in no uncertain terms it was time for the century-old technology to be buried under the weight of progress.

The partnership will expand to ‘most markets’ in the coming weeks, the firm says.PLAY5_White_Top_Down edit

As a bonus those who buy the system from Apple outlets and online will get a three-month free subscription to Apple Music.

“This is a big deal — both for our companies, and for music lovers around the world who can now experience Sonos and Apple Music like never before,” Sonos wrote in a press release.

Both the Play:1 and the Play:5 can hook up too other Sonos speakers in order to give users high quality audio experience in rooms of their choosing.

“Our expanded collaboration with Apple is a great example of our ongoing work with our full ecosystem of partners to make it easier than ever to listen to music out loud at home,” said Patrick Spence, president of Sonos. “Apple Music on Sonos is a powerful experience, one we’re proud to bring directly to Apple fans at Apple Stores worldwide.”
