ANZ Brings Android Pay And Apple Pay To MasterCard Customers

ANZ is offering both Android Pay and Apple Pay to its MasterCard customers from today, with the digital wallet services expanding their respective reach in the Australian market.

The move means that more than 500,000 ANZ customers with MasterCard credit cards will be able to use Android Pay and Apple Pay via smartphone where contactless payments are accepted.

“We were really pleased to be the first major Australian bank to launch Android Pay last month, and now our MasterCard customers can make mobile payments with this service as well,” ANZ managing director products and marketing Matt Boss commented.

Apple Pay was launched by ANZ earlier in the year, with it the first major Australian bank to do so.

Meanwhile, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is currently conducting a review into an application by the Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, NAB and Bendigo and Adelaide Bank to collectively bargain with Apple over the Apple Pay platform.

“Our customers have responded really well to the launch of Apple Pay and now our customers can make mobile payments with MasterCard credit cards as well,” Boss commented.

“At ANZ we are working hard to build the best digital bank for our customers and this is another important step towards that goal. Our customers want choice in the way they bank and where they bank, and we know our MasterCard customers, both consumers and merchants, will be pleased with this news.”
