Sony Delivers Tiny Speakers For Bravia LCDs

By SmartHouse Team | Wednesday | 14/05/2008

Sony?s new higher-end audio system line up includes a miniature 5.1 speaker system designed to complement its Bravia range of LCD TVs.

Following on from last year's Sony DAVIS10 micro satellite speaker system, the new HTIS100 comprises of 5 speakers about the size of a gold ball, but with a claimed 50W of power as well as a 200W subwoofer.

The speakers feature HDMI connectivity, support 24fps playback and Bravia Sync, which allows you to use the one remote to control all your Sony devices.

Also new to the audio range is an iPod micro system (CMTBX20i) ? a CD-player and speaker system with a built-in iPod dock; a Bluetooth micro system (CMTBX50BT) which lets you stream music to and from other devices wirelessly.

Rounding out the line up is the Gigajuke (NASE35HD) ? a modern jukebox of sorts, this system sports an 80GB hard drive so you can store up to 15,000 songs in its internal memory and play them from the speakers. It also has a CD player and AM/FM tuner.

"As the way we listen to music continues to evolve, so does our need for connectivity and
compatibility, so it's great to be able to offer products with Bluetooth streaming and integrated iPod features," said Sony Australia Product Manager Audio Kathy Hill.

"The new systems showcase sleek and simple designs that are not only easy to use but look good in the living room or bedroom. Most importantly, they produce great sound, whether playing a CD, MP3 track or Bluetooth-streamed audio."

RRP:
CMTBX20i iPod micro system: $349
CMTBX50BT Bluetooth micro system: $349
NASE35HD Gigajuke: $699
HTIS100: $1,199
