Previously Wayfinder has used NAVTEQ maps in Russia, Singapore, Australia, the Middle East and South Africa for the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet, which has a map application.
Wayfinder said it chose NAVTEQ map data due to what Wayfinder believes is excellent quality and coverage.
"NAVTEQ data is built to a global quality specification which is both comprehensive and offers a broad range of rich features making the users' experience an enjoyable one," said Rich Shuman, senior vice president, APAC Sales, NAVTEQ. "Wayfinder has been progressive bringing to market these products across so many regions, each of whom has quite unique needs."
NAVTEQ completed its full coverage of Australia in the summer of 2006 and since then has expanded its local coverage to New Zealand, using the largest team of navigation geographic analysts in the region.
