New Foxtel iPhone App Exclusive To Telstra

By Michelle Starr | Thursday | 18/02/2010

A new Mobile Foxtel app for iPhones that offers users an easy-to-access mobile TV experience has been launched exclusively by Telstra.

The Foxtel app, which is available for Next G iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS models, allows users to view Foxtel channels on their iPhones. Foxtel subscribers with an iQ set-top box can also use the app to record television shows remotely.

Users can access the app via an icon on their iPhone's menu without navigating to the BigPond Mobile portal. The interface also includes a scrolling channel selector that can be used to switch between 31 channels with the swipe of a finger. This can be accessed while the user watches a TV stream—meaning users don't have to interrupt their TV viewing to browse other channels.

The video streams have been specially tailored to fit the iPhone's large display and high-speed data capability, offering enhanced viewing quality and stereo sound.

The app also includes a fully integrated Foxtel TV guide.

iPhone customers with Telstra can subscribe to the Mobile Foxtel Ultimate Combo, which includes all Mobile Foxtel channels, for $18 per month. For $12 per month, customers can subscribe to 2-pack combo, choosing from Entertainment, Sport, News and Docos, Kids and Music packs. There are also Ultimate Combo Packs available for three months ($49) and 6 six months ($89).

Customers can also sample Mobile Foxtel by purchasing a day pack for only $4.
