Ingram Finally Take On CEDIA & CE Distributor In Oz

By David Richards | Sunday | 24/02/2008

The world's largest technology distributor Ingram Micro has finally announced a brand new CE and AV Pro division that will sell consumer electronics, software, networking, digital signage and security products, for the home and commercial environments. The move will put pressure on several CEDIA industry distributors as well as those selling into the fast growing CE market.

Overseas Ingram Micro has seen big growth following their aquisition of two CE and CEDIA market distributors who have access to home sound and vision technology. Voted the Best Technology Company In The USA recently by Fortune Magazine, Ingram Micro is the world's largest technology distributor with 2006 revenues of US $31.4 billion and is currently ranked 70th on the Fortune 100 listed companies.

Matthew Sanderson, Ingram Micro's Director of Product Management and Marketing, said "Due to ongoing digital convergence, IT and CE products are merging - in recognising this; Ingram Micro has allocated dedicated personnel to cater for increasing demand in the area of Consumer Home and Office Solutions".  Ingram Micro's CHOS Division will give resellers and vendors yet another opportunity to easily access knowledge in this area and secure their own piece of the consumer home and office market.
