Company: Asus Product rating:

Pros: A monitor that uses an available USB port; Good screen quality; Can link up to six monitors at the same time; No need for additional video cards

Cons: It could have been better if Asus included a DVI port in addition to the D-sub port.

"Asus USB Monitor For A Wider View"

By Mendelson Tiu | Published:02/07/2008

In order to use more than one monitor for your PC, your video card must have at least two video output ports (say a DVI and a D-Sub port). Asus makes do without all the complicated setup procedures and offers a simpler alternative ? a monitor that hooks up to your USB port.

Unless you have two video outputs on your existing video card, the only way for you to connect two or more monitors to one PC is to replace your existing video card or use additional graphics cards. The Asus VW223B monitor is probably your best alternative as it transfers video signals to the monitor using any available USB port.

The VW223B sports a thin piano black bezel, with the main buttons (Spendid/Auto-Adjust/Exit Menu button, Contrast hotkey/Decrease button, Menu/Enter/Selection button, Brightness hotkey/Increase button, Input source switch (VGA/EzLink), and Power button) ?blending in' with the silver strip at the bottom of the screen. The AC-in, D-sub, and USB 2.0 ports are located at the back of the screen, while three USB ports are located at the unit's left spine.

The monitor can be hooked up to the PC via the D-Sub or USB (using the EzLink application) port. After installing, the EzLink Display will allow you to extend or mirror your desktop with a single click. The program also allows a user to update the software, adjust the screen resolution of the monitor (a maximum of 1680 x 1050), set the colour quality (16 or 32-bit), rotate the screen (Normal, Rotated left, Rotated right, Upside-down), set the location of the extended desktop (Left, Right, Above, Below), and even turn the unit off.
