Internode Scores ADSL Ton & Blasts Telstra

By Branko Miletic | Monday | 23/06/2008

National broadband company Internode says it now offers ADSL2+ broadband services from more than 100 telephone exchanges where its own DSLAM equipment is installed, but its further expansion is being slowed down by Telstra.

As well as delivering national coverage with first generation ADSL broadband, the company is providing high-speed ADSL2+ Internet access services at 106 exchange service areas in NSW, Victoria, Queensland, WA, SA and Tasmania. Internode also has more than 50 more exchanges on its ADSL2+ rollout schedule.

Internode MD Simon Hackett said providing customers with the best Internet access experience possible is what his company is all about. "ADSL2+ delivers the real Internet experience by letting us deliver a full range of rich online applications including our NodePhone voice-over-broadband service, great streaming video and games and business systems such as high-speed tails for our Internode Business Connect (IBC) private IP network", he said.

However Hackett also blasted Tesltra and said Internode's current deployment schedule was being held back due to restrictions imposed by the telco. "Of the 106 exchanges we have equipped with our own DSLAM gear, 10 have limited capacity due to Telstra either restricting access to the exchange or declaring it full," he said.
