In other words, Finnish traffic fines are directly proportional to the latest available data on the offender's income.
And so it was that Anssi Vanjoki, director of Nokia, was fined 116,000 euros or roughly $AUD 150,000 after he was caught driving just 26 kmh over the speed limit on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in Helsinki.
On wonders what the fine would have been if he was talking on his Nokia mobile phone whilst doing the trip, or even if he happened to down one too many Finlandia Vodkas before he got onto his hog?
Although not an expert on Finnish road fines, judging from what Vanjoki copped for being just 26 kms over the limit, if he was chatting on his (I assume) Nokia N95 and happened to also have a little too much Helsinki Hooch at the same time, I assume it would possibly mean life imprisonment.
