As tipped by SmartHouse weeks ago, Apple will officially open their Sydney store at 5.00pm on Thursday June 19th in a move that is set to rip business away from their existing Sydney reseller network. Apple has also confirmed that the Sydney store is one of the biggest they have ever built.
"If you are looking to buy an Apple product in the Sydney CBD customers will gravitate to the new Apple store not us" said a Next Byte executive. "The pulling power of their new store is going to shred business away from the reseller network in the CBD and around the CBD" they added.
Ron Johnson, the head of Apple's retail division confirmed with the Sydney Morning Herald that he store would open for business at 5pm on Thursday, June 19 and that it will occupy three-floors on the corner of King and George Streets in the Sydney CDB.
In a further blow to the existing reseller network Johnson told the SMH "We're not coming to open a single store in Sydney," Johnson said. "We will open more stores but we are not prepared at this time to talk about additional cities, additional stores."
