IndexTools was founded in 2000 and according to its web site, "provides e-business leaders accurate, insightful and timely intelligence about the effectiveness of their Web efforts, thereby helping them to increase sales, reduce marketing costs and provide a higher level of service to their customers and partners".
IndexTools competitors include Webtrends, Visual Sciences, Omniture and Coremetrics.
It seems Yahoo wants IndexTools' technology for analysing client's online marketing efforts, which will extend Yahoo's own analytics platform by adding capabilities to deliver insights and metrics for online campaigns that run across Yahoo's entire network, according to the company.
