Nearly 10 Million Mobile Devices Shipped To Australia in 07

According to the IDC Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, in 2007, some 9.64 million mobile devices were shipped to Australia, with over one-third of these- or about 3.55 million being shipped in Q4, making the last quarter of 07 the highest on record.

Converged devices or smart phones accounted for 27 per cent of the total devices shipped and IDC predicts that by 2012 the number of converged devices will exceed 47 per cent as consumers opt for feature rich handsets.
Shipments of new mobile devices are predicted to grow 62 per cent faster than the corresponding increase in subscribers, with shipments set to exceed 12 million in 2012.
