| Samsung Launches Finnish Invasion

According to Reuters, the world's No. 2 mobile phone maker, South Koreas Samsung is looking to grow in Finland, the home of rival and No. 1 player Nokia, with its new range of touchscreen phones.  Click to enlarge |
Samsung currently has a 6 per cent share in the Finnish market, as opposed to Nokia, which has about 86 per cent share in Finland, a recent study showed. Samsung is looking to improve its position in Finland with a line-up of devices such as the new Omnia, which it just introduced in Europe and which is due in Australia next month. Finland, with a mature mobile phone market is also used as an indicator of trends globally, with Samsung claiming a study of Finns' preferences in consumer electronics showed touch screens were seen as the next big thing.
