Sony Claims Bravia/PS3 Promotion Hit The Jackpot

By Branko Miletic | Wednesday | 30/07/2008

According to Sony, the Bravia LCD TV bonus Playstation 3 (PS3) offer has come to an end, with the company saying it sold 35,000 TV?s since the promotional period began on the 1st of July.

The company says it was able to "deliver this exceptional deal for consumers and is very pleased that all the PS3 consoles have been redeemed".

In terms of natural sales cycles, Sony would only dourly admit that this deal increased sales of their Bravia LCD TV range by "more than what Sony would usually sell", although it was not willing to divulge any hard figures to back this comment up.

Furthermore, according to GfK, the LCD market over the past 12 months has seen a growth increase of about 57%, and it is not known what effect this had on the Sony promotion, only noting that "35,000 TVs in 1 month is an awful lot of LCD's" from the one vendor.
