Acer Does About Turn Over Blu Ray Notebook

By David Richards | Sunday | 20/04/2008

Acer have said that they were wrong in telling SmartHouse that their new Blu ray notebook was only 1080i and not 1080p as claimed in their launch press release.

Now after consulting with Acer in Taiwan who also told SmartHouse that the new notebook was only 1080i we are able to reveal that Acer are now saing that the new notebook should be able to output 1080p Blu ray content for the simple reason that it has the new  Nvidia GeForce 9500M graphics card.

However we are still awaiting a definitive answer from NVIDIA in the USA on the issue as the technical specifications for the card are confusing.

A quick look at the online specifications for the new NVIDIA card show that providing that Acer have set this card up right the notebook should be able to deliver Full HD by advantage of the new NVIDIA card which has GSDual-link DVI outputs for digital flat panel display resolutions up to 2560x1600. Dual integrated 400MHz RAMDACs for analogue display resolutions up to and including 2048x1536 at 85Hz.
