Bose Upgrade Overpriced Under Specked Home Theatre Systems

By David Richards | Wednesday | 16/07/2008

Bose whose home theatre kits are massively over priced and lacking in features such as Ethernet and wireless connectivity as well as a provision for an iPod has finally taken steps to add new features such as additional HDMI and 1080p up scaling.

The US Company who is rorting Australians by selling their home theatre kits at up to almost double the price that they sell to US nationals have some of the worst specked home theatre systems in the market. For example their LifestyleŽ 38 series IV DVD Home Entertainment System sells in Australia for $6,499, in the USA the same unit sells for $2,999.

The Lifestyle 48 series sells in Australia for $7,999 while in the USA the same unit sells for $3,999.

For a comparison of how much Bose rort Australians see Bose USA pricing at: Bose USA Vs Bose Australia

Bose refuse to explain why there is such a massive mark up on their systems as the Australian dollar is currently at $97.05 to the US dollar. Vincene Overs, Public Relations Manager, for Bose Asia Export & Australia was unable to explain the reason and demanded that ChannelNews put in writing the question "Why are the same Bose home theatre systems that are sold in the USA almost twice the price in Australia when the Australian dollar is almost at parity point with the US dollar".
