And so as the era of physical formats for movie and TV shows comes to an end in this digital convergence scenario, content is moving seamlessly from your multifunction portable device to a TV, between computers, and to every monitor and audio system and random networked appliance in the house- except of course, if you are a Foxtel subscriber.
As Australia's largest and some would also say most beleaguered pay per view digital provider, Foxtel, which 2 weeks ago launched is HD service, today signed an agreement with the BBC, whereby BBC Worldwide will roll out three new channels in Australia from its new BBC-branded global portfolio. The first of these is BBC HD, which launched this month as part of the new FOXTEL HD+ service.
In addition, two further new BBC channels ? BBC Knowledge and CBeebies ? will be the first BBC channels to launch on FOXTEL when it gains extra cable and satellite capacity in mid 2009.
