Dell Appoints Channel Gurus

By Branko Miletic | Tuesday | 09/09/2008

Dell Australia has announced two senior appointments, which it says will bring it a step closer to launching Dell's new channel program, PartnerDirect, in Australia. Both appointments were made from within Dell's ANZ organisation.

David Connellan has been appointed as ANZ Channel Sales director.  He has more than 20 years' experience in IT, including senior roles at other major vendors.

He joined Dell ANZ in 1995 as Operations manager, responsible for distribution, logistics and warehouse management and will also continue to manage the NSW Commercial Business Group Sales team.

Rob Makin has been appointed as Channel Strategy and Acquisition manager.  He will be responsible for the implementation and direction of Dell's Channel strategy in ANZ, together with the identification and acquisition of Dell's major prospective Channel partners. He joined Dell in June 2006 as the account executive/alliance manager for Commonwealth Bank and EDS.

Although Dell was not forthcoming with details of what exactly PartnerDirect is supposed to do, according to the dell blog, Dell2Dell, it is a "program that formalises many of our efforts working with solution providers. It's our initial step to allow solution providers access to Dell's expertise in areas like build-to-order, software customisation, and solution deployment capabilities".
