| Nintendo Wii Facing Sales Ban Judge Rules
By Wire Services | Wednesday | 23/07/2008
Nintendo is facing a sales ban on some of its game machines following a court decision in the US that overturned a $21 million patent-infringement. Controllers for its Wii and GameCube systems may be taken off the shelves after a US district judge rejected Nintendo's request for a new trial in the case won by closely held Anascape. The ban will be put on hold while Nintendo appeals the verdict to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Nintendo may escape the ban by posting a bond or putting royalties in escrow. A Nintendo spokesman says the company plans to make a federal appeal, and retains the right to sell the Wii Classic Controller pending the appeal. In other Nintendo news Simon Jeffrey from Sega said that Resident Evil 5 will be launched on the Nintendo Wii soon. Simon Jeffrey is the president of Sega of America.
