Samsung Hurts Sony In TV market

By David Richards | Tuesday | 03/03/2009

Samsung who recently took the #1flat panel TV position from Sony in Australia have also been chosen by over 26,000 consumers as the #1 LCD TV brand in the world ahead of Sony, Sharp and Panasonic. LG failed to make the top six.

In the plasma market Panasonic followed by Pioneer were chosen as the best two brands.

The research carried out by Brand Keys also revealed that what people want today is "50 percent off, cool design and bulletproof warranties according to Robert Passikoff, Brand Keys founder and president.
Passikoff also said that the chosen winners are those brands best able to engage consumers and create loyal customers. Initiated in 1997, the Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index is fielded annually twice a year.
The Brand Keys data paints a detailed picture of the category drivers that engage customers, engender loyalty and drive real profits.

"These drivers not only define how the consumer will view the category, compare offerings, and, ultimately, buy, but also identify the expectations consumer hold for each driver. The brand whose drivers come closest to meeting (or even exceeding) those of the category Ideal is always the one whose customers will demonstrate the highest levels of engagement and loyalty over the next 12 to 18 months" Passikoff added.
In the notebook market the best brands were Apple, Dell, HP, and tied Sony Vaio and Toshiba, Lenovo and Panasonic
In the digital SLR camera market the top brands were
Canon
Nikon
Panasonic
Fuji/Sony (tie)
Olympus

In the DVD players market the best brands were
Samsung
Sony
Toshiba
Pioneer
Panasonic /Sharp (tie)
