By Branko Miletic | Tuesday | 01/07/2008

Nikon has released the D700 SLR camera, a lightweight, small-frame camera targeted to the high-end amateur and professional wedding photography market.

The D700 features an AF system with HD 51 AF points; two live view modes built in; large HD 3-inch; 16-bit processing pipeline to provide the detail and smooth gradation necessary for print enlargement and reproduction.

The D700 uses an image sensor cleaning system that uses high frequency vibrations to reduce the accumulation of dust on the image sensor surface.

5 fps is possible with the compact 1500 mAh EN-EL3e lithium-ion battery, and up to 8 fps is achieved by attaching the optional MB-D10 battery pack if the 2500 mAh EN-EL4a battery if desired.

This is designed to offer complete power supply integration for those already using the D3 and D300. Another option is the practical i-TTL built-in pop up flash with 24 mm lens coverage, designed for discrete flash lighting when a full size Speedlight might be too cumbersome.
