Optus Gets The iPhone Crumbs

By Branko Miletic | Monday | 12/05/2008

As we reported two weeks ago, Optus indeed will be launching the iPhone in Australia, although after Vodafone already announced first that it will be the carrier, it seems Optus will be playing second fiddle with Apples device.

In a short and sweet official release from Optus this afternoon, Optus said "SingTel, Bharti Airtel, Globe and Optus today announced that they have signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia later this year."

No further information was available, but the release said further details would come at some later date.

The decision to have at least two carriers for the iPhone in Australia, is in line with Apple's strategy in other countries such as Italy and the UK .
