For Taiwanese Company HTC the battle is set to be a struggle after all of their Australian staff quit earlier this year. To date no new appointments have been made. However it is known that HTC has cut an exclusive deal with Telstra to range their new Diamond phone which later this year will be available with both a Microsoft and Google operating system.
Present at todays HTC launch will be Peter Chou, CEO and President, HTC Corporation, Horace Luke, Chief Innovation Officer, HTC Corporation, Jack Tong, Vice President, Asia Pacific, HTC Corporation.
Up until the launch of the iPhone High Tech Computers (HTC) was on a roll selling Windows Mobile based phones to several vendors including Samsung and iMate. Now the Company is struggling to regain momentum up against a new assault from Apple.
Even being mentioned in the same breath as Apple, BlackBerry, Microsoft or Google is a big for HTC who are struggling to get their brand recognised because of poor marketing and in Australia a lack of management who know the Australian market.
For several years the Company anonymously struggled as a device manufacturer, making handhelds for the likes of Palm and Hewlett-Packard . Well-regarded for its software and its hardware, HTC mostly delivered ugly heavy devices that were high-tech, but definitely not high fashion. Now the Company is looking to turn this around.
