Samsung Pulls The Plug On Major Smartphone Press Event

By David Richards | Wednesday | 08/02/2012

Samsung has pulled the plug on a major press conference scheduled for Sunday evening at the upcoming World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.

In the past, the Korean Company has used the key Sunday night event to make glitzy announcements for new products such as their Galaxy S2 announcement that was beamed live into a Sydney Restaurant.

It is now being suggested that Samsung's focus at MWC will be geared towards the merge of its Bada OS and the linux based Tizen software.

Last week Samsung told media organisations that they would not launch their much anticipated Galaxy S3 at the WMC, with some analysts now speculating that Samsung has delayed the event to prevent competitors like Apple getting an early insight into what they are planning for 2012.

Emails sent to media organisations claim that Samsung will still have a presence in Barcelona and that they will be holding new product introductions, away from the bright lights of the big stage.
