By Tony Ibrahim | Wednesday | 31/08/2011

Ford's Evos brings cloud computing into the car, so much so that car will be revealed at the IFA as opposed to the typical Frankfurt Motor Show.

Cloud technology is being used to provide a seamless environment between the office, home and car, while also allowing the car to accommodate outside conditions.

Slashgear claim by accessing the cloud, the car will be able to reroute when facing traffic and pollution, automatically adjust the car's climate, and update the car's chassis, steering and engine settings based on road conditions identified through its satellite navigation.

The technology will also provide a new level of personalisation, offering capabilities like continued music playback and internet streaming. For instance, if you're streaming internet radio at home and find yourself needing to jump in the car, it will playback the stream from wherever you're up to.

Ford's VP of Global Product Development, Derrick Kuzak, believes the car exemplifies the company's core elements,

"The Ford Evos Concept unites three key elements which are at the core of our One Ford global product strategy: outstanding design, smart technologies and fuel economy leadership," Kuzak said.

Kuzak made it clear that the Evos is not a smartphone with wheels. Instead, it incorporates aspects of the cloud environment that are tailored to a car context.

Although a concept, this is just one example of how future technology will be aligned with the smart home.
