Distributed in Australia by Hi Fi and Video Marketing, the new range, called "g!", is a mix of Elan and HomeLogic IP-based control systems technology.
The aquisition of HomeLogic has allowed Elan to combine two lots of technology across a variety of interfaces, including an Ole-like OLED display, iPhone, PC, new touchscreens, and some new form factors that give Elan a competitive edge.
The g! also has a new capability that allows the automation system to be controlled via a television.
Paul Starkey, VP sales and marketing, told CE Pro, "Not only is the new system stylish, it is also more modular in design than legacy Elan products. That means it makes sense for virtually any installation, from single-room to large-scale mansion-level. We won't divulge pricing here, but suffice it to say that g! can be competitive with some of the other affordable systems on the market—'in the ballpark' of Control4 and Crestron Prodigy," says Starkey.
Starkey claims that Integrators could put together a decent multiroom system for less than $6000.
Software for the new range will be available from 1 April 2010. The rest of g! will be available by September 2010.
Currently, 20 dealers are beta-testing the system, according to Starkey.
