Started in a backroom in Crow's Nest the Switch Automation technology is designed to primarily run on embedded Windows and Linux based software. In recent months the Company has expanded the systems capability to also manage power consumption and environmental appliances.
According to CEO Deb Noller the Company is in expansion mode and the move to a new identity was more about expanding the system into the Pro AV and commercial markets spanning education healthcare and government. "The Digital Homeware name was restrictive. The system is capable of controlling multiple applications spanning lighting entertainment, security irrigation and health care. We are getting a lot of interest and jobs from architects, developers and builders that are looking for automation in residential communities multi storey dwellings and gated communities." She said
"Today automation is cheaper more capable and can be interfaced with a lot more applications. Corporate Australia is turning to automation systems like ours for boardrooms while government is looking to control a multitude of applications in classrooms and universities".
Started in 2002 by Chris McGowan and John Darlington Digital Homeware was first incorporated in 2005 with the product being shown for the first time at the 2006 CEDIA show on the gold Coast.
The Switch Automation offering connects select audio visual devices, lighting and electrical control systems using Ethernet, Wireless LAN and RS232 connectivity. A new iPhone application is also close to being rolled out. This will allow devices to be managed remotely from both a Windows Mobile based device and an iPhone.
