Tim Rich the former Corporate Marketing Communications Manager at Sony Australia has quit for a senior marketing role at Telstra. Sony Australia Managing Director Carl Rose confirmed the parting of the way with Rich from Instanbul in Turkey.
Rich who previously worked for Toyota and Electrolux as a Brand Marketing Manager has taken up a media and sporting sponsorship role with Telstra reporting to Amanda Johnson who in turn reports to Telstra consumer markets Managing Director David Moffatt.
Talking from Istanbul in Turkey where he is attending a global partners marketing function Carl Rose confirmed that Rich was no longer an employee of Sony. "Several months ago we restructured our marketing department and Tim was made a direct report of Toby Barbour who is responsible for Sony's strategic direction. I cannot say anymore".
A former marketing executive at Toyota Rich was also responsible for launching the Electrolux brand into the Australian white goods market.
Speaking exclusively to ChannelNews Rich said "I am currently taking a break and will start with Telstra on August 4th. I look forward to the role which will involve me working across Telstra's sporting and media investments. I believe that there is a big opportunity at Telstra as they have significant investments in sport right across Australia".
At Sony Rich was responsible for the brand communications of Sony's Business Solutions Division (BSD), as well as the entire consumer arm of the business.
Last month Sony Australia today announced a series of senior appointments within its Consumer Marketing Division, including three Marketing Managers and a new Product Manager for TV.
