Sanyo Snares Top Samsung Exec For Green Energy Push

By David Richards | Monday | 26/05/2008

Rodney Rodrigues the former marketing manager for AV products at Samsung has quit joining Sanyo, where he will work with former LG Marketing Director Paul Reeves in the role out of new energy efficient batteries division, which will include batteries that can be plugged into a USB port and recharged.

Rodrigues who worked with Reeves at LG is set to take on the role as National Retail Channel Manager responsible in part for the role out of a whole new green energy power division at Sanyo who are the world's largest manufacturer of batteries.

Rodrigues quit Samsung right in the middle of one of their most important AV product launches the Series 6 and 7 HD LCD TV range. The former IT category manager at LG Electronics Rodrigues has over 10 years experience in marketing, most in the consumer electronics industry.

Said Reeves "This is a key role in a brand new Enviroment & Energy Solutions Group that we believe will generate significant revenue for retailers.  Our plan is to roll out a brand new category of power devices that are energy efficient.  Currently we are establishing a new distribution channel and in a few weeks time we will roll out several new products including energy efficient batteries that when their juice starts to drain you simply plug them into any USB port or 250mA Ni-MH charger"

He added "Called Eneloop and aimed at the consumer market this product is just one of many new products that believe can deliver efficient green battery power for both the consumer market and business.  Sanyo is #1 in the world when it comes to making batteries and we have the technology to lead a massive revolution in the marketplace with batteries that are not only energy efficient but save on consumers and organisations having to constantly buy new batteries".
