| Goble Quits, More Marketing Woes For LG
By David Richards | Wednesday | 27/02/2008
Another senior marketing executive has quit LG. Darren Goble the Audio Visual category manager has called it a day at the Korean manufacturer 3 months after Marketing Manager Paul Jenkins also left the Company. Goble is being replaced by Warren Kim. His resignation to take up a senior role in an appliance manufacturer leaves a big dent in LG's marketing department which was recently restructured with the appointment of David Brand as Marketing Director of LG Australia. The company says the appointment of Mr Brand, the former Marketing Director of Maxxium, is also a part of its enhanced branding and marketing efforts. He was unavailable to comment today on Goble's resignation. According to GFK data LG has during the past 18 months, lost market share in several key categories despite heavy investments in TV, radio and billboard advertising. The company also replaced their media buying company and recently appointed WPP company George Patterson to work on their advertising. Patts who used to handle advertising for Panasonic are currently working on new briefs designed to lift awareness of the brand.
